Mexco distribute a comprehensive range of premium diamond cutting and drilling tools throughout the construction industry via our stockist network situated across the UK and Ireland.
Since its inception in 2003, Mexco has focused on diamond tool development providing cutting and drilling solutions to the construction industry. Mexco have now established itself as one of the UK and Irelands largest privately-owned suppliers of diamond blades, core drills and tile drilling products.
The product which our Hire partners consistently praise and keep returning for is the Mexco TPXCEL Tri-Purpose, multi-cut blade. Available from stock in 230mm, 300mm, 350mm, 400mm and 450mm the blade consistently cuts most construction materials including asphalt, concrete and granite.
Mexco distribute products through multiple outlets including Tool hire, Builders Merchants, Plumbing Merchants, Tile Shops and tool distributors from its distribution centre in Bodmin, Cornwall.

What do you think are the benefits of joining a trade organisation?
When joining an established organisation like the HAE you inherit the benefits of association from a trusted organisation, benefiting brand recognition and customer confidence.

Who was responsible for making the decision to join HAE and what were the reasons for joining?
I am pleased to say that I was responsible for Mexco joining the HAE, for the reason stated above.

How has your business changed since joining HAE?
As a result of joining the HAE we have benefitted from access to its current members and their willingness to discuss opportunities with a fellow member.

What do you consider to be the highlights of your membership with HAE?
The highlight of our first HAE year was receiving the HITS accreditation, emphasising that Mexco Diamond Tools are performing well and meeting the stringent requirements of the tool hire industry.

What does a typical day involve? What are your key responsibilities?
There is not a typical day on the road as I like to remain fluid to meet my customers’ requirements. If I’m office based my working day starts at 7.30am: Checking and replying to outstanding emails whilst drinking my first cold coffee of the day!
Meetings with the office sales manager for progress reports on current and potential accounts.
Plan my weekly visits in conjunction with requests from the sales office. Promotional activity, merchandising, POS and new routes to market are explored, time on the phone with customers and following leads.
A key aspect of my role is speaking to decision makers and key members of staff when undertaking my due diligence of a new customer, studying business models, geographical areas and purchasing trends ensuring that what we are offering is the correct product and service to maximise customer satisfaction.

What do you think are the most important reasons for someone to trade with your business?
The most important reasons would be the high levels of service we offer, the technical support and the friendly approach when distributing our products.
Mexco really do care about our relationship with each and every customer, our business model requires that our customers return again and again, this can only be achievable when customer satisfaction is paramount!

Customer satisfaction, value for money and product quality.

Please can you share your company’s aspirations and how being part of HAE will help your business in the future?

What one piece of advice would you give to someone seeking a career or starting up a business in the industry?
Provide the level of service that you would want to receive if you were on the other side of the counter. Work hard and have fun.
